I started using twitter on the INTECOL conference in London 2013. In the beginning very sporadic and mainly for direct message chatting. However, my twitter bubble started growing and I got curious, if I can visualize it. Here I show a R script for visualization and community analyses of the twitter accounts I follow and their interconnection and I was really surprised, what I learned about my own interests and how clear they emerged simply by analyzing the meta-data of my twitter bubble.
A few weeks ago the number of my twitter followers exceeded 100 and was going slightly down again and I was interested in who unfollowed me. Twitter does not offer that and I would have had to register at a third party page, which even wanted write access to my twitter account. I did not think about it for a while and then I found the R package twitteR, which lets you fetch all required information and I used it in the following to evaluate my “friends” and “(un-)followers”.
